The Lowdown on Epic Remedy Edibles
The Epic Remedy offers one of the largest selections of medical edibles here in Colorado Springs. Each item in our curated edibles selection contains between 40-1000mg THC and comes in all the confections you've come to know and love, including chocolates, gummies, lollipops, tinctures, capsules, and even THC-infused beverages.
Below, we're diving deeper into how edibles work as well as a brief overview of the edible companies we work with. As always, if you have any questions on any of these products, be sure to shoot us an email or ask your budtender to help you determine which products will be best for you.
How Edibles Work
First off, edibles are cannabis-infused foods, beverages, and edible oils or tinctures. As we mentioned in our Cannabis Delivery Methods post, edibles work through ingestion and digestion. In this method, you'll eat a THC-infused product and digest it to begin metabolizing THC in your stomach and liver before you can actually start feeling the effects. As the THC is metabolized, it changes into a different form of THC which then makes its way into your bloodstream and eventually your brain, causing you to feel a unique, nearly-psychedelic type of high.
Edibles are great because they offer an easy, controlled dose of cannabinoids making it easy to manage chronic medical symptoms with marijuana. However, they get a bad reputation because they take 30 minutes to 2 full hours to kick in. This can make people feel a little impatient, causing them to take an additional dose that makes the experience far too intense to enjoy when the doses finally kick in. Eating edibles incorrectly like this can feel almost like an uncomfortable mushroom trip, which frequently turns people off of edibles entirely. This is unfortunate because edibles are a top choice for medical marijuana patients in Colorado because of their consistent dose and euphoric high. That said, always start with a low dose (around 5-10mg) and work your way up until you know how an ingestible product (such as an edible) will affect you.
How to enjoy edibles safely
A lot of first-timers have trouble with edibles. Since edibles are made using different concentrations of cannabis from brand to brand, there is a little discrepancy in how an edible may affect you. Say for example you find 50mg of chocolate to be your perfect dose, but you want to explore gummies. It's unwise to start with the same 50mg dose since these products tend to feel a little different than chocolates.
Take me for example. I can eat 50mg of chocolates to comfortably manage my symptoms, but I can only eat about 25mg of gummies. However, I can safely enjoy 100mg in a THC-infused beverage, which is more than I could physically eat and still feel comfortable. The way our bodies process different products, like sugars, fats, and cannabis oils will all affect how a product will make you feel. With that in mind, you'll have a ballpark range of your preferred dose, but the intensity of effects may vary from product to product.
A good rule of thumb is to always start with a lower dose and work your way up until you know how each specific product affects you. If you're brand new to edibles, start very low with about a 10mg dose. Be sure to wait 45 minutes and up to 2 hours before you take another dose, too. We all have different enzymes in our digestive tracts that can speed up the process or slow it down. Some people will feel edibles faster than others, but that doesn't mean you won't feel them. If you double down accidentally you may find yourself feeling quite paranoid and anxious, especially since edible highs can last up to 8 hours. Always wait about two hours before taking another dose. You can absolutely up your dose by 10-25mg at a time, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
With that out of the way, here are the edible brands we carry and a little information on the brands and their products.
Robhots (Pronounced like robots) was started at home back in 2014. The original gummies were shaped like robots and made with BHO (butane hash oil) hence the BHO in the Robhots name. In 2015, Colorado edible regulations changed and they could no longer use the robot molds for their gummies. Regulations also helped them to change their recipe from BHO to pure THC distillate. Robhots can now be purchased for medical patients and recreational users. Since then, they've been given a handful of awards for their flavors, consistency, and potency. They offer a rotating variety of flavors including multipacks and single flavors including Berries (cherry, grape, strawberry), Fruits (banana, blueberry, green apple), Reds (strawberry kiwi, tropical punch, watermelon), Tropical (mango, pineapple, tangerine), and more.

Mountain High Suckers
Mountain High Suckers is one of the original names in the Colorado edible game. Founded in 2009, MHS was also the first company to offer CBD in their medical cannabis products. The products are excellent for beginners just getting started with edibles. The Sweet Pieces and Lozenges are low-dose and come in multiple flavors. Each additional product contains a 3 THC to 1 CBD (3:1) mix. Best of all, Mountain High Suckers are unique as they allow for dual absorption. As you hold the sucker in your mouth, you can absorb the cannabinoids sublingually, like a tincture. However, the material you swallow is also processed through your stomach and liver like an edible. This allows for a faster-hitting, more complete effect.
Wana started as a medical gummy provider in Colorado at the start of everything. Since then, they've begun operating in 8 different states. Their gummies are tried and true, offering a clean, consistent dose every time. In fact, many patients consider Wana to be one of the cleanest feeling edible products available. While they have expanded into recreational markets as well, their medical line remains. They offer several mixes of both regular and sour gummies in a variety of fruit flavors in both indica, sativa, and CBD varieties.
Sweet Grass Kitchen
Sweet Grass Kitchen is a fabulous edible bakery founded in 2009. Sweet Grass makes cookies, pies, and other baked confections using whole-flower cannabis-infused butter. While they do have a line of recreational edibles, their medicinal line ranges from 65mg to 100mg. In 2013, they began making their butter using their own cannabis that they grew in-house to offer a more consistent experience. Their butter is only made using cannabis flower - never plant material - so the hashy flavor is minimal. The process to make the perfect butter takes up to 12 hours. Using the butter, they make a variety of recreational and medical products like cookies and pies, including chocolate chip, Lemon poppy seed, Peanut butter M&M, and Snickerdoodles.
TasteBudz was founded in 2017 to bring a new and improved edible experience to the medical and recreational cannabis market here in Colorado. TasteBudz’s gummies are chewy, not sugar-coated, delicious, and have no hash after taste.
