In-Depth Details: Tres Star Strain Profile
The Tres Star strain is an 80/20 indica dominant hybrid cross between Stardawg and Tres Dawg first propagated by Top Dawg Seeds, who are known for bringing the world-famous Chemdawg to the scene. Tres Star is a big beautiful inbred Chem queen made from an Afghani X Chemdawg backcross and the uber-popular Stardawg, which is Chemdawg crossed with Tres Dawg. Checking in at a whopping 20-27% THC on average, the strain is quietly approaching superstardom thanks to its clear-headed mental effects and deep-seated physical relief.
Tres Star grows in standard indica-dominant fashion on bushy plants with broad dark green water leaves. Her viney branches spread outward as well as upward, making her a little finicky to keep comfortable. As her flowers develop and swell to massive sizes, she requires an extra layer of netting to help support the weight. Each cola grows on the larger side in an indica-dominant fashion. Each one can be broken down into a heavy helping of individual, rounded buds ranging in shades of bright green to golden yellow. Her pistils are a vibrant shade of fiery orange, and each flower is coated in a thick layer of THC-rich trichomes.
On the plant, Tres Star flowers stink up a room largely thanks to her high concentrations of b-Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene. Living plants offer a dank herbaceous aroma and a fuel-tinged spice that are sure to crinkle the nose. However, as they dry their aromas become notably more earthy. Dry buds are notably earthy, pungent, and spicy similar to pepper. When the buds are ground up though they tend to release more of those lemon-citrus notes along with some pungent fuel notes.
Tres Star's flavor is pretty similar, though perhaps more refined. An inhale brings forth those bright herbal notes of lemons as well as a sour, fuel-like kick. The smoke itself is pretty thick and peppery, so there's a good chance that this one will help clear the sinuses and make you cough. However, the exhale is where Tres Star really shines. A good puff will leave behind a dank earthiness as well as a pungent fuel-like tinge, leaving a lasting impression of earth, lemon, and gas.
The effects of Tres Star take hold almost immediately as you exhale your first hit. You'll first notice an upbeat cerebral effect that will leave you feeling euphoric, uplifted, happy, and maybe even a little bit creative and giggly. This effect however does become overpowered by the intense physical relief that Tres Star offers. Tres Star will leave your muscles feeling soothed and relaxed while the rest of your body tingles, leaving you in a state of blissful relief.
These effects coupled with a way higher than average potency level (20-27% THC) and therapeutic terpenes like b-Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene make for a strain that is as medicinally valuable as it is enjoyable. Many medical patients in Colorado Springs keep Tres Star in their medicine cabinets for intense nighttime relief from a variety of symptoms. On the mental side, Tres Star is a go-to choice for depression, stress, and insomnia. However, as a deeply soothing strain, many patients use Tres Star to combat pain and inflammation, lack of appetite or nausea, headaches, and even muscle spasms.
Just keep in mind that all medical strains come with some side effects, such as dry eyes and cottonmouth. With Tres Star being an indica-dominant strain, it may also cause a case of the munchies and couchlock in higher doses. That said, always start with a low dose of a new strain to see how it will affect you before taking a normal-sized dose. Keep in mind that cannabis is an excellent medicine for managing chronic symptoms, but it isn't a cure-all. It's just a safe, effective alternative for the treatment and management of many chronic symptoms. For standard symptoms, Tres Star is an excellent choice for medical marijuana patients seeking physical and mental relief in the afternoons or at nighttime. The strain's potency levels and above-average terpene content make it a popular choice among patients who visit our dispensaries here in Colorado Springs.
The Epic Remedy's Tres Star Strain Review
Tres Star was ultimately very impressive. Everything from its appearance to its intense aroma had me more than eager to get home and try it for myself. Each bud was dense and frosty as well as extremely stinky and sticky. Tearing open the buds made for a huge burst of pungent, gassy aromas that would have anyone's mouth watering with ease.
My first impression was that the flavor was quite good. Very lemony but also dank and earthy with that classic chem-family spice and fuel-like kick. However the effects settled in quite fast, and they were interestingly enough very cerebral in nature. I found myself floating in a blissful euphoria for a while, though the charging mental effects did ultimately succumb to powerful physical relief and relaxation.
As someone with moderate levels of daily pain, this one provides relief and it provides it fast without making you feel too sluggish to function. I appreciate a good cerebral lift in any strain since it helps combat depression and even anxiety, which I also deal with on a daily basis. Luckily, Tres Star doesn't fall flat in that area either.
Overall, it gave me a nice charged energy on the mental side as well as some serious physical pain relief. This one makes for a good afternoon/evening indica since the body buzz is intense and often overshadows the cerebral effects. However, it'll undoubtedly leave you feeling upbeat and relieved. It looks, tastes, and smells awesome, too. If you haven't had the chance to try some of it for yourself, be sure to stop by any one of our three Colorado Springs medical dispensaries.
