In-Depth Details: Dirty Taxi Strain Profile
Dirty Taxi is an indica-dominant hybrid strain with semi-mysterious origins. We don't really know who was the first cultivator to propagate the strain, but we do have a pretty good hold on its lineage and know that its a cross between the GMO strain and Chemdawg I-95. With a lineage deeply rooted with strains like Chemdawg, OG Kush, Sour Diesel, and Girl Scout Cookies, you can expect an extremely unique strain with uber-potent effects and a funky flavor.
The Dirty Taxi strain is hard to find in most places. As far as we know, The Epic Remedy is the only dispensary in Colorado to cultivate it. Our cut is tried and true and seems to be getting more and more potent with each harvest as we learn the ins and outs of the plant's likes and dislikes. Our last batch was tested in at a whopping 26% THC, making it a heavy-handed hard-hitter when you consider the overwhelming presence of b-caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene terpenes that help make THC and other present terpenes stronger (Learn more about the Entourage Effect).
The plant itself is a beauty, displaying broad dark green water leaves. She grows wide and bushy with a plethora of huge colas when topped and trained early in her life cycle. When she hits about 50 days, she can stink up a room with her gassy earthy aromas. Her flowers swell until harvest and secrete copious amounts of heavily THC-laden trichomes. When the plant is harvested and trimmed, the flowers retain this dank aroma and crystalline appearance. The light sagey green nugs break away from the main colas leaving behind extremely-sticky football-shaped nugs that look like they've been dealing with the first frost of winter. The light-colored flowers contrast nicely with the dark, vibrant orange pistils that curl throughout the trichomes.
Those terpenes stand true in the aroma and the flavors of the Dirty Taxi strain which are quite similar, though the flavors leave more of a variety on the tongue than sheer earthy strangeness. The strain offers a unique fertilizer and mothball combo that mellows into a chill pine flavor with a minor splash of citrus. If you've ever had the GMO strain on its own, think of that heavy-handed funk mixed with fuel and a bright herbaceousness.
The most exciting factor of the Dirty Taxi strain is its effects, though. Like most cannabis strains, Dirty Taxi will cause a case of cottonmouth and dry eyes, so keep some fluids and some eye drops handy to keep yourself comfortable. The first puff of this strain will hit you right in the brain with an electrifying sensation. The strain offers an excellent uplifted and
blissful feeling that can leave you with happiness, a case of the giggles, and an amplified sensation of euphoria. As the high takes hold, the cerebral effect fades into a gentle stone that ends up rooting itself more in the body than in the head. Its effects are deeply physically relaxing, melting away stress, depression, and a variety of physically painful ailments. Dirty Taxi leaves you in a state of pure relaxed bliss, making it easy to let go of the rough parts of the day and get that pain under control. It will fade into a stony sleepiness and a serious case of the munchies, which brings us to our next point: Dirty Taxi's medical uses.
Dirty Taxi is a great strain to reach for when you need heavy THC-related relief. IF you suffer from physical ailments like chronic pain or inflammation, Dirty Taxi is a great choice to combat those symptoms. If you have a stressful job or struggle with the symptoms of anxiety or depression, Dirty Taxi can help you feel more at peace and relaxed. The strain is an excellent option for people with social anxiety as the cerebral effect is still uplifting, making it possible to comfortably socialize without overthinking it. However, Dirty Taxi is most commonly used for people with sleep-related conditions and people who have trouble keeping their appetite intact, especially in the case of patients going through chemotherapy.
Just keep in mind that Epic Remedy's Dirty Taxi is potent. If you're sensitive to THC, you'll want to start with a small hit of this strain and see how you feel before jumping right into massive bong rips so you can keep yourself comfortable and feel the full range of effects without giving yourself anxiety.
Epic Remedy's Dirty Taxi Strain Review
While our Dirty Taxi has been reviewed once before by the fine folks at Cannapages, it made sense for me to give it a whirl myself. (Oh, by the way, my name is Nicole and I manage our menus, social profiles, and website. If you interact with the Epic Remedy online, there's a good chance you're interacting with me. 'Sup.)
Dirty Taxi was one of the first strains The Epic Remedy introduced me to at the dispensary. In fact, every time I go in there for pictures or to touch base with the EpicFam, our budtenders proudly exclaim "Dirty Taxi is our strongest, headiest indica" in the background whenever our patients stop in looking for heavy-handed indica relief. With so many budtender-to-patient recommendations, I figured it'd be a good choice for me to try (and to talk about, y'know, since there's no information about it online yet).
I grabbed an 1/8th of Dirty Taxi Friday afternoon with the full intention of smoking it over the weekend. The flowers in the bag were absolutely gorgeous and so frosty they almost looked alien. The flowers were medium-dense and football-shaped, like your standard indica-dominant weed. The buds themselves were a light shade of greenish-yellow, or at least they looked that way in contrast to the extremely thick layer of trichomes coating them. The prettiest part was the bright orange pistils curling out, making the colors contrast and pop. All things considered, I was super excited to try The Epic Remedy's Dirty Taxi.
However, Indica strains aren't usually my thing. To tell you the truth, I'm a spaz and if I'm not running around and getting things done, I feel like a pile. BUT I do appreciate a nice Sunday chill session where I can sit on the couch and smoke and destress from the week's troubles. I tend to do a hard hike on Saturdays, so I'm usually pretty sore and wiped out by Sunday. With that in mind, I had my first taste Sunday afternoon.
Opening the bag kicked out a really weird and pungent aroma. I mean, this stuff smells like somebody's musty basement or an old lady's house. It's like a one-two punch between that weird earthiness and commercial fertilizer (not poop fertilizer though, that chemically, fuely stuff). It's really kinda hard to describe. I get notes of pine and fuel under all of that dank strangeness. And don't get me wrong, weird is wonderful -- not gross.
After a good long whiff, I ran a few nugs through my grinder and packed it into an ordinary bowl. I also tried it later in a bong and a joint, but as far as flavors go, always start with a bowl to get the best first impression. My first impression of the flavor was definitely that of fuel. The smoke was on the thick spicy side so it made me cough a bunch, but the aftertaste was interesting. If I had to describe it, I'd say it was a lot like the smell in the sense that it was extremely earthy with a hint of dank mustiness and sour notes of fuel. Surprisingly, the flavor left on my tongue was pretty piney and citrusy once the interesting aftertaste passed.
I think it's an understatement when I say that the Dirty Taxi strain got me truly stoned for the first time in a long time. The cerebral effect is surprisingly strong in the beginning and made me feel super flushed and uplifted and giggly. I ended up watching some old episodes of King of the Hill and laughing hysterically at the way the proportions of the scenery and characters were all wrong. After the initial shockwave of getting high passed, the effects mellowed waaaaaaaay out. Deep relief extended to my sore muscles and left me feeling chilled out, happy, and deeply physically relaxed.
Dirty Taxi is sleep medicine though, so keep that in mind. It isn't a strain you want to smoke if you have a bunch of stuff to do, or if you're doing yard work or something because all you're going to want to do is lay down and laugh at something and eat. And chat. This stuff made me so mentally and physically relaxed that I literally ran my mouth comfortably for like 2 hours, which is something I don't normally do as a big shy my-other-car-is-crippling-anxiety type of gal. As far as effects go, I'd rate that bad boy a 9/10 because it was still mentally uplifting even if it was intensely physically relaxing. However, it did give me cottonmouth and made me want to take a nap. If that's the effect you're shooting for, you're going to absolutely love Dirty Taxi.
All in all, if you haven't had the chance to try Dirty Taxi from The Epic Remedy you're going to want to give it a shot if potent indica chill-sessions are your speed. As a non-indica smoker, the stuff blew me away in pretty much every category. Best of all, Epic Remedy is 100% vertically integrated, so that super dank Dirty Taxi flower you tried also comes in house-made vape cartridges and a variety of different concentrates. The variety of products and 50+ strain variety of super exotic strains (including Dirty Taxi) makes The Epic Remedy the best dispensaries in Colorado Springs.
