In-Depth Details: Critical Widow Strain Profile
Critical Widow is a 60/40 sativa-dominant hybrid cross between Critical Mass and White Widow, both of which are legendary strains in the medical cannabis realm. White Widow is an exceptionally balanced hybrid, and Critical Mass is a potent indica that swells to massive sizes, and the heads at Green Fantasy seeds wanted to bring the best of both worlds to one strain. The offspring of this cross are all exceptionally large and dense thanks to the Critical Mass genes, but they're also more potent than both parents checking in anywhere between 20-27% THC.
Critical Widow plants grow in an indica-dominant fashion, boasting lots of dense viney foliage and broad water leaves. They tend to bush out, so they require a little bit of extra care during their veg cycle to ensure they can support the massive colas that will emerge during the flowering cycle. Much like Critical Mass, which is named for its massive, dense colas that may bend or break the stems during the final stages of flowering, Critical Widow also grows huge buds and will require trellis netting to support the buds when they emerge. Each Critical Widow cola is a huge, dense, football-shaped monster taking on shades of light green and yellow. However, at the final stages of flowering, a thick blanket of trichomes emerges giving the flowers a shiny, silvery sheen. Each cola breaks into tons of small, dense, and round buds,
Critical Widow flowers are quite aromatic both on the plant and in the jar. While living, the strain is quite pungent and earthy with some pretty loud herbal citrus notes. However, as the flowers dry, the earthy aroma tends to overpower and overshadow the citrus and herbs. This is remedied by breaking the buds or grinding them up, as the buds will release those concentrated citrus notes in a glorious fashion. As the strain burns, it takes on a woody, earthy aroma though those herbal tones still shine through.
The flavor is similar in a sense as it tends to change flavor during the smoke sesh. Surprisingly, the first impression of the strain is that it's exceptionally sweet and fruity, taking on notes of citrus and tropical fruit. Critical Widow smoke itself is earthy and pungent, so there's a pretty good chance that it'll make you cough, though the aftertaste saves it. The final and lasting impression is herbal and pungently earthy, taking on an almost kush-like spice in addition to those tropical citrus flavors that shine throughout the whole smoke session.
Critical Widow is best known for its potent effects, though. The strain can first be felt in a fast yet gentle cerebral headrush that will leave you feeling energized and completely pacified, upbeat, and happy. The uplifting sensation is so strong that it frequently leads to an outgoing and sociable effect or a fit of giggles at the slightest humor. As your mind lifts, your body will begin to feel relaxed, but not weighed down. In most cases, you'll feel happy and upbeat as well as relaxed, pain-free, and hungry.
While the Critical Widow strain is slightly sativa-dominant, it's ultimately very well balanced and makes a great choice for pain management even during the day. Its above-average levels of THC (20-27%) coupled with potently upbeat and soothing terpenes like Limonene, Myrcene, and b-Caryophyllene makes it no wonder that the strain is considered one of the best medical cannabis strains out there. The physical effects never become overbearing but do provide powerful physical relief against pain, nausea, lack of appetite, and headaches and the cerebral effects can keep you in a positive headspace all day. Many medical patients use Critical Widow to combat fatigue as well as stress, depression, and mood swings.
Just keep in mind that like most strains Critical Widow may cause dry eyes and cottonmouth. Like many other sativa-dominant strains, if you are sensitive to the heady effects you may also experience anxiety in higher doses. Remember, cannabis is an excellent medicine for managing chronic symptoms, but it isn't a cure-all. It's just a safe, effective alternative for the treatment and management of many chronic symptoms. For general use, Critical Widow is one of the best medical cannabis strains out there for medical marijuana patients in Colorado Springs seeking daytime relief. It's potency levels combined with its helpful body buzz and positive cerebral effects make the strain a popular choice among patients who visit our dispensaries here in Colorado Springs.
The Epic Remedy's Critical Widow Strain Review
I didn't really know that this strain was called Critical Widow at first to tell ya the truth. In our system, we label it as CMxWW, which is cryptic, to say the least. But after some digging and chatting with our grow pros I had a much better understanding of the strain and found out what exactly it was and where it came from. I was confident enough to sample it and review it for myself.
Needless to say, I was blown away by appearances at first. The plants in the grow are massive, and the buds available on the shelves are insanely colorful and vibrant, though also very dense and frosty. The photos we snagged at the grow and at the store were plain and simply beautiful, as you can see throughout this article. I couldn't wait to get them home to sample them for myself.
When I opened my bag, I found that Critical Widow is insanely fragrant and flavorful. You can detect bright citrus terps throughout, as well as a notably fresh, herbal aroma alongside a pungent earthiness. It definitely delighted the senses. However, my favorite part of the sesh was easily the effects.
I don't like a pure sativa, though I do love sativa-dominant hybrids. Critical Widow will give you that energy and a ton of happy feelings, but it won't become overbearing or make you feel sped up like a crack head in any way. It made me feel very upbeat and happy, though also relaxed. It made socializing with random people at the grocery store way less uncomfortable for me and had me feeling pretty outgoing and comfortable. It had some great physical effects too which saved me from back and shoulder pain without making me feel gluey and one with the couch.
All in all, the strain looks, tastes, and smells awesome but it also offers a ton of great effects for medical patients and general users. If you haven't had the chance to try some for yourself, be sure to stop by any one of our three Colorado Springs medical dispensaries. Just be sure to check out menus or give us a call first before you stop by to make sure that it's in stock. This week's secret code is "CRITICAL WIDOW". Thanks for checking it out!
