In-depth Details: Cali Orange Strain Profile

Cali Orange is one of those strains that we don't have a lot of background on. It's an old-school strain said to have come from Holland in the 1980s. It's classified as a 50/50 hybrid offering the best traits of both indicas and sativas. It's been retained for so long likely in thanks to its simplicity to grow and clone under a variety of conditions. Cali Orange goes by a variety of names, including Cali Orange Bud, California Orange, Cali-O, and C.O.B.

The strain tends to grow with ease indoors in around 66 days. It grows like a true hybrid, tall and lengthy with broad water leaves and tons of foliage. The strain doesn't require as much training early on as you'd imagine and still manages to throw beautiful plants with mid-sized yields.

Cali-O is a beauty both on the plant and in the jar. Her wide water leaves are a lovely shade of medium to dark green covering every inch of her long, light green stalks. She grows multiple top colas that produce lots of dense little buds. Each one is a light shade of green with gold to yellow highlights which contrast nicely with the darker sugar leaves. The buds are coated in a thin layer of silvery-white trichomes that give the strain its potency and stickiness. You can also find a ton of electric orange pistils on the flowers, helping the strain to live up to its orangey name.

Cali Orange isn't called Cali Orange for its orange appearance alone though. It gets its name from its super citrusy aroma that smells a lot like freshly grated orange zest. Other notes of tropical fruits and a dank pungent earthiness make an appearance when the buds are chopped our ground up. However, the lasting impression is that of sweet, tart oranges with a hint of earthy pine.

The flavor embodies the aroma profile with intensity, promoting a very bright and energizing citrus flavor that stands out against other orangey strains thanks to its candy-like sweetness. Cali Orange has a tart but sweet orange flavor on the inhale. The smoke itself is notably smooth and refreshing, leaving you to exhale negative feelings away and replace them with a quiet, focused joy. The final impression is that of sweet orange and a dank, pungent funk with a piney aftertaste.

That last exhale will leave you feeling extremely pacified and uplifted, yet energized and focused. However, it's a very mellow sense of energy, not the hyper-fixated feeling that comes along with pure sativa strains. The high can be described as very clear-headed and upbeat, allowing you to let go of stress and anxiety and replace them with happiness, focus, and creativity. Cali Orange also settles in the body, provinding deep physical relief to limbs and extremities without slowing you down or reducing your energy levels.

These effects coupled with a mid-range THC level around 14-19% THC makes Cali Orange a great strain for medical marijuana patients. It can soothe away the symptoms of ADD/ADHD and other hyperactive disorders by replacing inattentiveness with a gentle cerebral buzz that promotes energy and focus. It's mix of physical relief and relaxing mental effects also makes it a great option for chronic pain, headaches, nausea, anxiety disorders, depression, fatigue, and chronic stress.

While Cali O is super well balanced and tastes great, remember that it like most other cannabis strains are likely to cause cottonmouth and dry eyes. As with many other hybrid strains, you can put yourself to sleep or give yourself anxiety if you take a larger than average dose. Hybrids affect people differently, so to avoid any possible negatives be sure to start with a lower dose at first. Otherwise, Cali Orange is an excellent choice for both novice medical marijuana patients and seasoned veterans alike.

The Epic Remedy's Cali Orange Strain Review

Cali-O is one of those strains that you can find at most dispensaries. It's been around for a super long time, offers standard potency, and is pretty straightforward to grow. However, like Blue Dream, it sells for its excellent flavors and effects.

I grabbed an 1/8th of this stuff the last time I stopped by for a meeting. As dumb as it sounds, I'm anal about how my strain archive looks right now and wanted to put a new (( c l i c k a b l e )) profile on the left column to give it a lil' more symmetry, channeling my inner Death The Kid.

Anyway, I grabbed the stuff and headed home. I took notes on it the same day since I was in a very busy mood and needed something to do for a while so I could actually justify laying on the couch and watching cartoons the rest of the afternoon. My first impression was the smell in the bag, which was mouth-wateringly sweet and energetic.

Bag smell is nothing compared to the terps Cali Orange releases when you agitate it or grind it up though. The smell went from a solid 7 to a 10, with a heavy release of tart citrus-scented terps. You can also find a unique herbal aroma behind the scenes, similar to a pungent earthy funk, aka, dankness.

Cali-O Macro

I loaded it up into a little bowl and sparked up. The smoke gave off more dank aromas and some pine needle terps on the nose. However, the flavor was a different experience. On the inhale, you can taste most of the aromatic terps, though it's more of a tropical fruit flavor similar to an orange gummy candy. The smoke itself is pretty smooth and mellow and didn't make me cough too much, leaving me with a pretty refreshing flavor. The aftertaste was notably more earthen and pine, with dank citrus flavors left behind on the tongue. All in all, delicious. Think Orange sour patch kid that fell into some pine needles on the ground but you ate it anyway because the orange ones taste best.

The effects take hold almost instantly. For me Cali Orange was notably energizing, focusing, and uplifting. I cranked out a little more work and had a great time with it, as it had my creative juices flowing. I was able to write with ease while it helped me achieve a very positive and uplifted attitude.

It also promoted some soothing physical effects. My lower back no longer hurt while I was sitting at my desk. I just felt very relaxed overall. When I was finally done with work I was able to sit on the couch and unwind, letting go of the says stresses without sacrificing my energy levels.

Cali-O is a classic, but it never ceases to impress me. If I had to rate it, I'd definitely give it a solid 9. It isn't the most potent bud out there, but it's super flavorful, relaxing, and mentally stimulating, making it a great choice for combating a variety of physical and mental ailments. Best of all, it puts you in a great state of mind and body relaxation that makes it a great choice for any time of day and any activity. Whether you do creative work or physical activities, Cali Orange's potency and long-lasting relief make for excellent medicine and a fun recreational experience.
